7 Effective Ways to Beat Thigh Chafing

Valerie Taylor 6 months ago - in Health & Fitness

Most of us have those childhood memories of sweating our butts off during playtime in the summer sun and then it all going amuck thanks to a burning pain. Chafing of the inner thighs and arms is never fun.

Luckily, if you have just about had it with the annoyingly painful rash, there are ways to avoid thigh chafing completely and treating it if you have already gone past the point of no return.

1. Undersummers

These soft, stretchy shorts are perfect for ladies who do not want to go slathering kitchen ingredients and Vaseline all over their thighs. Undersummers come in a variety of colors and styles, like lace bottoms.

They are sized nicely, so you shouldn’t have to worry about them peeking out from the bottoms of dresses and skirts. Unless you’re petite. Undersummers also come in an array of sizes up to plus sized 30. Cozy, protective – what more could you want?

Also, for ladies who love to be matchy-matchy, there are so camisoles for sale that pair with the undersummers bottoms.

2. Vaseline or Bodyglide

Touted as “the original anti chafe balm,” Bodyglide is, in short, awesome. You may think a single bar is quite pricey, but when you see how many people have praised Bodyglide (including famous athletes) and continue to purchase the product, you know you have to give it a try.

The bar is made of entirely natural, vegan ingredients, and is non-greasy, long-lasting, and hypoallergenic. You do not need to fret over your pores getting clogged either. Since there are no special dyes, your clothes are also safe from stains. For those with sensitive noses, the original Bodyglide is unscented. The old standby of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) also works well if you need to beat the friction ASAP.

3. Fresh Breasts lotion

Though the name is “Fresh Breasts,” you do not just have to use this lotion on your girls. You can rub this stuff anywhere. It prevents wetness from sweat and humidity while preventing thigh chafing.

What is really awesome is the cooling sensation you get from it. Since Fresh Breasts lotion dries as a light powder, you also do not have to worry about it getting on your clothing. Bonus: it is hypoallergenic, talc, paraben, and aluminum free.

4. Skimmies slipshorts

These shorts are made by Jockey, and while you may think that they are like undersummers, they are not. Skimmies slipshorts are a soft microfiber that is also seamless.

Unfortunately, Jockeys are not known for having the most accessible sizing, so even if they come in an XXL, they may be comfortable for someone who wears a 26-30. The colors of skin tone. Again, simple, effective, and slightly more pricey than undersummers but they do they job and are less noticeable.

One of the perks about the Skimmies Slipshorts would be the breathability. Also, these do not roll up your thighs or bunch up around the waist. You might actually forget that you are wearing them.

5. Lady Anti-Monkey Butt

Kind of like Fresh Breasts, this is not just for your butt cheeks, but there is nothing stopping from using it as you please. Butt sweat can be a big problem, after all. Hence, Lady Anti-Monkey Butt, a powder that has been formulated to not only absorb sweat but to leave you feeling satin smooth.

Pair that with the pleasant scent and cooling power, and you have yourself an effective anti-chafing measure that can be applied after a workout or when spending the entire day outside. It is that long lasting.

The ingredients are cornstarch, calamine powder, tricalcium phosphate, patented microparticle polymer, and fragrance. (Lady Anti-Monkey Butt contains no talc, while the original variety does, so steer clear of the other blend.)

Bye-bye, baboon butt!

6. Fresh Balls lotion

Breasts, butts, and now balls. Okay, so what if this is technically for men? It works, and the price is right. Some ladies might not like the overly feminine scents of other products in the list. Fresh Balls, made by the same people who brought us Fresh Breasts, have concocted a more unisex scented lotion that can be rubbed anywhere you need chafing protection. It dries clean and cool.

7. Lush’s Silky Underwear

If you are lucky enough to have a LUSH near you, then you should try getting your hands on this dusting powder to prevent your chub rub. Though a lot of people swear by Lush’s Silky Underwear as their main defense against sweat and thigh chafing, this is actually more useful as a second line of defense.

The powder is jasmine-scented, vegan, and has a lot of cocoa butter in it too, so it actually helps wick away excess moisture. You may have to reapply the powder a couple of times throughout the day, especially if you are sweating heavily.
