Finding a great place to holiday can sometimes be a daunting task. Depending on the time of year and the type of holiday you have in mind, where you are traveling from and what you want to do, there may just be too many options.
But if you haven’t been to the island of Phuket in Thailand, you might want to consider this beautiful island for your next holiday.
Phuket is an island in the south of Thailand that offers you a lot of activities at a very reasonable price.
The peak season is from late November to early March. This is during the dry season and when the weather is at its finest. The temperature doesn’t change much as it is always hot in Phuket. If you want to avoid the thunderstorms, go during the peak season. Prices are higher and the crowds are greater at this time so you have to take those factors into consideration.
Getting there is usually one of the main factors that influence people and why travelers tend to go elsewhere.
This all depends on where you are coming from and how much time you have to spend on your holiday. If you are an American, you might not want to travel that far because it will take a full day of traveling to get there. Plus you might not have the time to spend to justify traveling all that way for just a week of holiday. But once you arrive, you will be glad you made the trip.
Once you have decided to choose Phuket as your holiday destination, you won’t be disappointed. Even though western currencies have weakened against the Thai Baht recently, the prices are still very reasonable.
There are plenty of beaches to visit on the island; the most popular is Patong beach because of the nightlife.
Soi Bangla rests in the heart of town and there are plenty of beer bars, nightclubs and a-gogos if that’s your style. Kammala beach is to the north of Patong while the beaches of Karon, Kata and Kata Noi are all to the south. You can also take day trips from Phuket to some of the surrounding islands that offer some incredible scenery. Maya Bay and James Bond Island are great spots to visit. Hotels can be found at a very reasonable price depending on what you are looking for. Sure you can shell out a lot of money for a 5 star resort but that is not necessary.
If you enjoy hitting the links, you will not be disappointed.
Phuket has around eight different golf courses to choose from. Located on the northern part of the island is one of the finest golf courses in all of Thailand. Situated near the airport and the ocean, Blue Canyon Country Club offers two championship quality courses that will certainly test your skills. The Canyon course is more difficult and has had many complimentary comments from some of the best players in the world including Tiger Woods. The Lakes course is easier and boasts some of the largest greens in Asia.
The food in Phuket is very good and reasonably priced with a wide range of cuisines from all over the world.
Seafood is obviously a great choice because it is so fresh and, of course, the local Thai cuisine is always tasty. There is plenty of nightlife if you are staying in Patong beach but in some of the other beach towns it will be relatively quiet. The language barrier is something people may worry about but it’s not much of a problem as long as you’re able to speak English. If English is not your native tongue, then it may be a bit of a challenge.

As far as crime is concerned, Thailand is relatively safe. There is not much violent crime against tourists, and you just have to use common sense just like you would anywhere else. Be aware and don’t make yourself an easy target for scammers. There have been issues with political unrest over the past few years but it doesn’t really translate to tourists, especially to those who travel to Phuket. Don’t let anything in the news deter you from enjoying a potential trip of a lifetime.
