4 Festive Ways to Revamp Your Home for Thanksgiving

There is a holiday that tends to get overlooked this time of year. You know the one. The one between October 31st and December 25th. The retail stores across the country put out the decorations for Halloween right after school supplies have been purchased, and Christmas items are put out shortly after that.

What about Thanksgiving? It feels to me, that home decor for Thanksgiving is pretty lacking. So, what can you do to revamp your home to make it warm and welcoming and celebrate the holiday with your friends and family? Try these simple home decor ideas.

1. Revamp your home decor

Decide what colors you would like to incorporate into your current color scheme. Think about fall colors, reds, oranges, yellows, browns. Can any of these colors work well with your color scheme? Maybe all of them can. If not, focus on the color that works best with your current home colors and compliment them with your new Thanksgiving decor.

Decide if you want to do it yourself or purchase your decor, and then plan accordingly. Keep your color scheme in mind as you plan, and think about what specific decor would you like? Do you want Thanksgiving decor for the kitchen, dining room, and family rooms, or do you want the whole house including bathrooms and bedrooms revamped?

2. Make your home welcoming with outdoor decor

Consider your curbside view. Is it welcoming and warm? Will your guests see that your home is inviting them to come in and stay a while?

Wreaths tend to make visitors feel welcome. You can use anything to make a wreath for Thanksgiving from twigs, corn cobs, pinecones, sunflowers, berries, and much more. Or, fancy up the front porch with pumpkins, hay bales, corn stalks, and gourds.

3. Beautify the indoors with items that fit your style and compliment your current colors

Find or make centerpieces with fall leaves, pine cones, fall-colored flowers, pumpkins, gourds, or ribbons. Having your centerpieces follow the rest of your decor makes for a beautifully revamped style.

Make the home feel warm and cozy with candles. There’s something about candles that give that homey feel. Make candles with pumpkins, cinnamon sticks, apples, corn, or wheat.

Take ordinary pumpkins and fancy them up with paint, lace, flowers, beads, or ribbons. The embellishments you choose can go with your home color scheme or you can do all white. White is a very beautiful and popular fall color now. Whether it be shabby chic or glamorous, white goes with any decor.

4. Use accent pieces for finishing touches

Finally, find pillows, blankets, and throws to add to your furniture and give the feeling of warmth and a welcoming home. In fact, you can add anything that screams “Thanksgiving.”

Revamping your home for Thanksgiving to make it warm and welcoming will leave this holiday one to never forget or overlook. Your friends and family will thank you for it.
