Now that most of us have financial problems, it’s hard to trick yourself into saving some cash each day. Many people live paycheck to paycheck and they say they can’t afford to have any savings. No matter how much you earn every month, you can save some cash for a rainy day, if you manage your income properly. Good money management is a crucial skill these days, which can help you live a debt-free life. My grandparents live their lives without worrying about money. What’s the secret? Both of them started saving money when they were in their 20s. They always stressed the importance of saving money when I was a student. Perhaps it’s a reason why I’m so obsessed with savings. I wasn’t a rich student and now I don’t earn a fortune, but I know a few tricks that may help you save more money each week or month. Take look at the list and let me know what you think.
1. Buy a cute piggy bank
When buying your piggy bank, opt for one in the form of animals, such as a cat, a dog, a frog, a parrot or a horse. You should feed your pet so make sure you put a dollar or your pocket change into your cute piggy bank each day. It’s a fun and effective way to trick yourself into saving money. You don’t want your pet, albeit it’s not alive, to stay hungry.
2. Where is the raise?
Did you get a raise? Congratulations! You are happy and I’m happy for you, but let’s forget about those extra money. Save those money for a rainy day or retirement. It’s so tempting to buy a new gadget, expensive clothes, or anything you couldn’t afford to buy, but do you really need those things? Think twice before spending your hard-earned cash on things you will throw in a few days.
3. A dollar a day adds up by the end of the year
A dollar a day can make a huge difference in your budget. When you get home from study, or work, put a dollar (or two) into your piggy bank. You won’t notice how easily you can save $30 or $60 per month. I think everyone can afford to save at least one dollar each day.

4. Are you working from home?
People spend a fortune on commuting. If you’re lucky to work from home, you can save lots of money for more useful things. Save those money that you don’t spend on commuting each day and you will see how it’s great to work from home.
5. Change your expensive habits
If you eat out each day because you hate cooking, I recommend you to break this expensive habit. Cooking is not as hard as you think; there are many quick and easy recipes available online. Pick a few healthy recipes and start cooking. Not only will you save lots of money, you will also improve your overall health. Consider breaking any other expensive habits, such as smoking and drinking. These habits drain your wallet and damage your health.
6. Pay off a debt
It’s great if you don’t have any debts, but why not pretend that you have a debt and you should pay it off? Each month make payments to yourself and do it punctually. It will be easier to do it if you pretend you are making a payment to a bank. I used this trick when I wanted to buy a washing machine but didn’t want to run into a debt.
Saving money is a top goal for many people, especially for married people who have children. You do not have to give up wonderful times, though. Spend money on essentials and try to find cheaper alternatives to expensive hobbies and entertainments. Don’t feel shame about being frugal. While the world is obsessed with super pricey things, it’s crucial to learn how to manage your budget properly. We don’t need a luxury home or a car to be happy. Appreciate things you already have in your life and don’t blame yourself if you can’t afford many things in this life. How do you trick yourself into saving money?
