I am a young, at first glance, happy and carefree lady, but I have already survived a lot of chronic diseases. Frankly speaking, those chronic conditions, uncertainty, lack of psychological support plunged me into the depths of depression. But the desire to live and hope helped me bounce back quickly.
I am not a doctor and I am not going to advertise or prescribe magic pills that will cure all your diseases. I have learned many lessons and I want to prove you that people can live well even with chronic conditions.
1. Pay attention to your well-being
Most chronic diseases can be reversed if detected early. Unfortunately, many people do not take appropriate measures in time, because well-being is not of top priority for them. When I was a teenager, I just lived my life and did not get an idea into my head that one day various diseases would become a part of my life.
Now I realize that my carelessness, naivete and indifference to my health cost me a great deal. Sometimes it is difficult to understand what your body is trying to tell you. If you feel like something is wrong with your health, then be sure to see your doctor regularly.
2. Never diagnose yourself
When I was a child, I loved playing ‘doctor’ with my friends. When I grew up, I preferred to listen to my body and solve health problems with help of Google, instead of going to the doctor. That negative habit and wrong conclusions just gave birth to various chronic diseases.
Many modern adults prefer to play ‘doctor’ and make attempts to diagnose themselves with various physical health conditions and mental disorders as well. If you do not want to misdiagnose yourself or become the slave of hypochondria, you should get rid of this dangerous habit once and for all.
3. Negotiate with doctors
If you have been diagnosed with an unpleasant chronic disease, you should not fall into despondency. I understand that sometimes the doctor’s words, recommendations and limitations can sound like a verdict, but you should not silently submit to everything they say.
It is crucially important to negotiate with your doctor to find the most suitable and individual therapy that will not make your life dull and miserable, but on the contrary, will give you a chance to live to the hilt.
4. Our life expectancy depends on our lifestyles
No matter what they say, your life expectancy depends mostly on your thoughts, actions and choices. If a chronic disease has knocked on your door, it means you have been doing something wrong.
You will feel well only if you start a healthy lifestyle and get rid of the habits that cause constant and acute exacerbations of your chronic diseases. While it is hard to change something for the better, aim to develop the skill of adaptability and believe that you will live a long life.

5. Do not count on alternative medicine
I have noticed that many modern people often give preference to healing herbs and other alternative therapies. Earlier, I tried to cure my illnesses using a number of alternative medicine recipes. As a result, some of my acute diseases turned into chronic ones.
If I could put time back and replay everything, I would take all the medicines prescribed by the doctor. Now I have to receive medical treatments from time to time. I hope my negative experience will show you that counting only on alternative medicine is a bad and reckless idea.
6. Your health is not your personal problem
I came to a conclusion that my chronic diseases were not my personal problems. Even though everything depends on me, I see that my conditions have a detrimental effect on both emotional and financial well-being of the whole family.
A sense of responsibility towards every member of my family motivates me to work, survive, provide for a large family, keep my emotions under control, undergo regular medical treatments and believe that everything will be OK. Every time you feel that you are losing heart, remember that your dearest and nearest believe in you.
7. It is necessary to manage time effectively
Whether we want it or not, chronic diseases exert negative influence on our productivity, activity and earning capacity. In my case, chronic back pain significantly poisoned my life and did not give me an opportunity to work and sit in front of the computer for more than 15 minutes.
I decided to work with breaks, because I did not want to lose my job. As a result, my overall productivity increased, because I had an opportunity to do everything written in my schedule during those breaks. I did not waste time lying on the sofa and waiting until the pain will stop for good.
