7 Ways to Clear Your Mind after a Tough Day

Since we all live in a hectic world, it’s necessary to learn how to clear your mind when you feel overwhelmed. One day you may wake up feeling stressed about your day and all those tasks you have to accomplish on time. The next day you may wake up feeling anxious with no real reason. But the reason is actually your busy lifestyle. Lack of sleep, junk food, stress and bad habits are all those things that prevent you from being absolutely healthy. Here are a few simple yet effective tricks to clear your mind after a hard day.
Ways to Clear Your Mind after a Tough Day

1. Go for an evening walk

I know, the last thing you want to do late in the day is to go for a walk. However, it’s one of the instant ways to de-stress and clear your mind after a tough day. Every day I have to accomplish an endless list of important tasks, solve family issues, listen to my boss’s critics and complaints, and when I finally get home I have to cook for my family, care for my pets (I have 5 cats, 3 dogs and 2 parrots) and do some household chores. I feel so tired and exhausted that I don’t even think about doing something else. However, I’ve noticed that walking out in nature alone is a good way to relax and enjoy my life. I always leave my cell at home and recommend you to do the same.

2. Write a journal

If you live alone or with people you don’t trust your feelings and thoughts, try to write a journal each day. Though I have many people whom I trust and who are always ready to help me, I can’t fall asleep without sharing my thoughts with my journal. If you are feeling overwhelmed and stressed, writing a journal will help you feel better and fall asleep faster.

3. Read a good book

I’ve been trying to break a habit of overanalyzing and overthinking everything that happened to me during the day for many years, but this habit is so hard to break. But I found the solution. I just get lost in my favorite book and worry about someone else’s life, not mine. Maybe it’s not the best way to clear your head, but you will definitely forget about your worries and troubles. Moreover, reading has been shown to help fight insomnia. Choose a good book and start reading. Avoid reading self-help books since they can make you feel worse.

4. Practice yoga

Yoga has become incredibly popular these days since the world has become even more hectic. People spend more time online, work longer than they should, party hard, eat junk food, drink lots of alcohol and next day work with a terrible hangover. All these can cause stress and worsen your health. That’s why it’s important to spend some me time every now and then in order to clear your mind and let your body rest. Yoga is an effective way to de-stress and improve your overall health. Yoga helps improve your blood flow to lower your blood pressure and better your mental focus.

5. Watch the stars

I enjoy watching the stars appear in the night sky. It helps me relax and stop worrying about my problems. Sometimes we are so busy that we don’t notice the beauty Mother Nature gives us. The next time you have a tough day, put your little ones to sleep, and enjoy seeing the stars come out one by one till the sky is a palette of beautiful starlight. Don’t foget about a cup of herbal tea or hot cocoa.

6. Take a relaxing bath

When nothing helps, take a relaxing bath. After all, what can be more relaxing than soaking in a warm, bubble bath? Avoid taking a hot bath, especially if you have a heart disease. Add a few drops of lavender oil to your bath for a more calming result. Make sure that nobody disturbs you, even your partner. Tell them that you need to spend this time alone.

7. Indulge in a hobby

Whether it’s cooking, sewing, knitting or writing, indulge in your hobby. When you do what you are passionate about, you forget about all those office wars, family issues or finance problems. Spending a little extra time doing the things you like is often just what the doctor ordered. I love knitting since it helps reduce stress and fight depression. Plus, I knit some beautiful garments for my family and friends.

You don’t have to spend lots of money or time to clear your mind after a tough day. No matter how hard your day is, avoid drinking alcohol. There are many other wonderful things you can do to relax and de-stress, you just need to see them. What’s your most effective way to relax after a tough day? Share your tips with us, please.
