Many people mistakenly believe that high school and college help them grow as a person and they don’t need to learn anything down the road. In fact, there are many things to learn even if you are in your 60s. We all want to be well-rounded, smart and successful people, but unfortunately many of us fail to do it, because we stop growing as a person, as we age. Whether you are in your 20s or 50s, and you feel like you want to learn something new about yourself and grow as a person, here are a few tips to follow.
1. Learn something new each day
You will instantly grow as a person, if you make a habit of learning something new each day. It can be anything from taking a class to learning 5 words of a new language. Watching the news each day (but don’t do it in the morning and before going to bed) can also help you learn many things about the world.
2. Read as many books as you can
Living in a modern world full of technologies and the Internet can alter your human identity. Plus, our children and many of us are much lazier than people were 20-50 years ago. We stop reading books and newspapers, we stop playing board games and doing homework. But what for? You can read everything online, you can find any task online and you can play any game online. It’s ridiculous when neighbors chat online instead of speaking to each other in person. If you are one of those who read online, break this harmful habit. Develop a habit of reading books instead. Books will help you grow as a person as well as improve your health.

3. Train your brain
There are many wonderful brain training games and exercises you can try each day. Giving your brain a regular workout will help you think clearly, remember all of the new things you learn daily, feel better and live longer. Training your brain on a regular basis can also help you prevent Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
4. Travel
I’m not going to tell you to pack up and travel around the world, though it’s a great idea, but most of us can’t afford it. When I recommend people to travel as much as they can, all I mean is that people don’t stay in one city. Whether your country is small or big, you have many places to explore without traveling abroad. When you explore new places, you learn new things, cultures, traditions and meet a lot of interesting people. This helps you grow as a person.
5. Let go of your old beliefs and fears
When you want to grow as a person and succeed in life, you should let go of your old beliefs and fears. It’s easier said than done, I know. But I believe that you are a strong person who is able to fight any fear you have, and who is able to let go of all of your old beliefs that may prevent your from being successful, healthy and happy. Don’t be afraid to try new things, leave your job (even if you’ve been working for the same company for many years), move to another city or do anything that you think can help you grow as a person. Listen to your heart, open yourself up to new possibilities and don’t be afraid of mistakes. If you can admit your mistakes and learn from them, you are halfway to success.
6. Go for a walk each day
Walking is a great way to learn more about the nature, animals and people around you. You can learn many things from the news, books and videos, but taking a stroll at least once a day is one of the easiest ways to fight stress, boost your mood, improve your health and grow as a person.

7. Fall in love with art
Now let’s be honest, when was the last time you visited a gallery or a museum, or listened to classical music? It may sound banal, but art plays an important role in personal growth and can have a strong impact on how you live your life. Try to visit a museum or gallery at least once a month in order to learn new things about art and grow as a person.
If you think you are smart and wise enough to stop learning and growing, think again. No one can learn everything the universe offers us. Don’t stop growing as a person, and you will never stop being proud of yourself. What are your ways that help you grow as a person?
