The Pros and Cons of Powdered Peanut Butter
Did you read this headline and gasp, “POWDERED peanut butter?!?!?” If so, calm down. Yes, it really exists. And as the name suggests, it is peanut butter in powder form. But it is not some bizarre creation for astronauts to take along into the galaxy.
It is for all of us here on Earth, particularly those of us that love peanut butter but do not want all the fat that comes with it. Powdered peanut butter has a lot of benefits too. You might be tempted to give it a try after you keep reading.
Pros:
You can adjust the consistency
You simply add two tablespoons of the peanut butter powder to one tablespoon of water to turn it from powder into peanut butter as you know it. But you can add more or less water than that ratio to make it as thick or thin as you want it. That is great for families that all like different textures. Everyone can be happy with the same product.
It is less fattening
Thanks to being slow-roasted and then pressed, powdered peanut butter has much less fat and oil in it, making it a natural and healthy choice. It only has one gram of fat, much less than the popular store-bought brands.
It is all natural
There are little to no chemicals in powdered peanut butter. No sweeteners either. It is just pure peanut butter taste that you can make when you are ready to eat it or cook with it.

Cons:
But like with anything else, there are a couple cons to powdered peanut butter.
It is more expensive than regular peanut butter
While peanut butter in powder form is becoming more widely available and the price is coming down a bit, it is still pricier than typical peanut butter options. This might be a factor for many families who go through lots of peanut butter every week. For others, the price will not be an issue.
You might want to sweeten it
In addition to the price, the flavor might not be sweet enough for you. Even natural brands of peanut butter can seem just slightly sweet. If this is an issue for you, you can add pure, raw, organic and unprocessed honey to it to sweeten it up. It might take a little experimentation to get it to have the flavor you want.
