It’s difficult to realize that something you worked hard for and put a lot of effort into is disappearing for good. When your heart is breaking, the world seems dull and your life seems pointless. It’s not depression and it’s not anxiety. It’s your state of mind. Be it a failed relationship, an unrequited love or a lost job, the failure can ruin a sensitive person. If your heart is breaking and you don’t know how to handle it, here’s what you should remind yourself of right now:
1. You’re much stronger than this
Stop pitying yourself. Yes, you’ve got a broken heart and you don’t know what to do next. Is this the end of your life or the world? Nope. You are alive and you have enough power to move forward. You won’t get your life back on track if you keep dwelling on your failure. If it’s a failed relationship, try to forgive your ex and let go of them. It’s all for the best. There’s definitely someone who’s going to make you happy.
If it’s a lost job or a denied promotion, focus on changing the situation. There are tons of wonderful jobs so maybe it’s time to try something new – something that will finally bring success into your life. You never know till you try. Give yourself a second chance. You won’t regret it.
2. Be thankful for this experience
Alfred Lord Tennyson said, “Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” Your failed relationship is simply another experience that will help you build a long-term relationship down the road. Every failed relationship is a good life lesson. Be thankful for this disappointment. 3. You can change yourself only

Regardless of what happened in your past, it’s over. I don’t say you must stay positive. Positivity is great, but you need to grieve this loss in order to leave that horrific pain behind. Give yourself two hours to think over your difficult situation. Write down all your feelings and thoughts. Read them. Burn the paper. Move on.
5. Don’t waste time
You fall asleep, wake up and go through the day with those negative, obsessive thoughts. Do you think it will change the situation? Will you feel better or happier? I’m not sure. I spent 3 years mulling my failed relationship over and over until I realized that I wasted so many time instead of solving my problem. Set new goals and start achieving them today. New experiences will heal your soul and bring happiness back into your life. This is a precious lesson I learned from my hard experience.
6. Crying at night won’t help to win the fight
When your heart is breaking, it’s easier to survive the day than the night. We tend to cry at night believing it will help us feel better in the morning. On the contrary, crying at night leads to anxiety, insomnia and depression. Life has greater plans for you. Embrace those plans with a smile on your face, not tears.

7. It’s always better to …
In every complicated situation I love to tell myself that it’s better to be alone than with a wrong guy or it’s better to be unemployed than to stay in a dead-end job. Depending on a situation you’re trying to cope with, tell yourself that it’s better to … and you will feel relieved. You will see that you ‘re actually worth more than you had in the past.
When your heart is breaking, give yourself some time to grieve. It’s totally okay to feel all sorts of emotions after a failure. Don’t run away from your feelings. You need to cope with them for good. Otherwise, they won’t leave you in the future. Your life is changing right now, and you have enough power to change it for the better.
